LEGISLATION such as the Environnental Protection Act 1990, together
with increasing public awareness of environmental issues, has meant
that many organisations are developing environmental policies on their
business activities - as well as environmental management systems to
implement them.
The lnstitution of Occupational Safety and Health has published
a Policy Statement on the Environment which sets out the Institution's
position on a number of important issues including the importance of
considering the environmental
impact of new developments, products and services at design - not
implementation - stage.

Together with the TUC and CBI,IOSH will be presenting the results of
a Study Group looking at ways of empowering the health and safety
