KOSHA give hand to build up OSH management system

KOSHA delivered KOSHA 18001 certificate and plaque on Feb.13, to Samsung Engineering that has successfully built up OSH management system.

President Hun-ki Baek joined the ceremony to celebrate the company in a meeting room of the company located in Sang-il dong, Gang-dong, Seoul.

-Participants: President Hun-ki Baek, Mr. Lee from the Samsung Engineering and representatives from partnered companies

KOSHA 18001 was made to certify companies that built up advanced OSH management system as part of their efforts to promote occupational safety and health at work places together with workers.

Samsung Engineering decided to set up the OSH management system March, 2011 and reorganized a team for OSH, set up a system for OSH activities between the headquarters, work places and partners, and evaluated the OSH performance.

At the final stage of building up the system, the company passed through the assessment of KOSHA and consulting session, to be finally certified.

In the ceremony, the four partners also joined that promoted the KOSHA 18001 together with the Samsung Engineering.

The four partners, BUMHAN WATERS, SB Tech, Gaya ESG and Wonbang Tech laid a firm ground for efficient prevention activities as they share OSH management system together with Samsung Engineering.

Up until now, 104 establishments have been certified in the construction sector among which 22 are general contractors, with 14 construction clients and 68 specialty contractors, since 2001 when KOSHA first introduced the KOSHA 180001. As of now 8 companies are in the process of being certified.

A person from KOSHA said “Samsung Engineering is the 22^nd to be certified as general construction contractor.” adding that if self-regulatory safety management system settles down for general contractors, specialty contractors and construction client companies, it would help prevent accidents in a practical manner.
